What is Hunger Action Day?
Each May, hundreds of anti-hunger advocates from all over the state meet in Sacramento to educate their legislators about hunger and support anti-hunger legislation. Low-income advocates, soup kitchen volunteers, nutritionists, food bank supporters and others concerned about the 3.1 million Californians experiencing hunger travel by bus, car and airplane once each year to participate in this important event. Here is what some of them had to say about their previous participation in California Hunger Action Day.
What Do Participants Think?
“Every year I come it’s better than before. Sign me up for this year” – Ron Tompson
“It was good to see my legislator listening to the people about making changes necessary to help end hunger in California. This was time well spent, I learned a lot.” – Sandra Jackson
“I loved being a part of hunger action day! I thought it was exciting – entertaining – enjoyable – educational and at the end emotional.” – Jacqueline Brewer
“It has been a great experience for my entire family.” – Ruben Hernandez
How Can I Participate?
